Summer Prospect Camp

OFFENSIVE CAMP (LIMIT 25):

These camps provide offensive knowledge and fundamentals. Sessions include an individual evaluation of offensive skills, mental approach, short game, and situational hitting. A lecture will be provided on baserunning.  

DEFENSIVE SPECIALTY CAMP (LIMIT 25):

These camps develop the fundamentals of fastpitch softball. Guided instruction and drill work assists the players in development of throwing technique and positional play for infield, outfield, and catcher. The camp’s focus is defense, and will not include offensive components.  

PITCHING CAMP (LIMIT 25):

Pitching camp will include thorough instruction of the fastball mechanics in addition to off-speed and movement pitches. Lecture, individual instruction, and drill work will assist the player in her progress. Campers will be grouped according to age and skill level. Velocity and rate of spins also will be determined.

Pitchers attending any session must bring their own softball. Pitchers must provide their own catchers. All pitchers and catchers must have a release form on file to participate. Please make copies of the release form so parents and guardians of catchers under the age of 18 can read and sign the participation release. Adults who are catching can complete a release form on site.  

CATCHING CAMP (LIMIT 25):

Catching camp will include thorough instruction on receiving, framing, blocking, and other aspects of the catcher position. Lecture, individual instruction, and drill work will assist the player in her progress. Campers will be grouped according to age and skill level. 

LOCATION

Dempsey Field - If the case of inclement weather, camp will be moved indoors to the Dow Recreation Center.

SCHEDULE:

• Session 1: Offensive Camp (8:30am - 10:00am)
• Session 2: Defensive Specialty Camp (10:15am - 11:45am)
• Lunch on your own/no lunch provided by Albion Softball (11:45am - 12:15pm)
• Session 3: Pitching Camp (12:30pm - 2:00pm)
• Session 4: Catching Camp (12:30pm - 2:00pm)

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

• Campers must bring tennis shoes/turf shoes and cleats incase weather forces us to go indoors. 
• All campers must download and complete the release of liability form. Camper must bring the release of liability form with them to camp along with a copy of the camper’s insurance card. 
• Each pitcher must supply her own catcher. Catcher also must sign release of liability form and bring copy of insurance card with them.   
• Catchers attending the catching camp will receive separate and specific instruction as it relates to their position. Catchers will NOT be catching for pitchers attending the pitching session.
